Fashion Bloomer of the Month: Lauren

Hey guys!  I apologize for no posts last week, but I had a huge life change. If you guys follow me on social media, then you’ve heard the big news…I’M ENGAGED!  Last week on my vacation to Jamaica, Josh got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him and I said YES! I am beyond excited and cannot wait to share my journey with all of you.  I plan to tell you guys all about it spilling all the deets on both the engagement and our adventures on the blog so stay tuned!  February is now upon us, which means it’s time for a new fashion bloomer of the month (Check out last month’s to see what it’s all about)!

Meet Lauren, a sweet, interesting, and fun-loving middle school teacher.  She’s one of my besties as well 😉  I can’t wait to share her style journey with all of you!

So, what brought you to Bloom Boutique Blog?

I was so excited when my former college roommate (and bestie) started sharing her passion with the world through Bloom Boutique Blog. Now that I don’t have the luxury of living with a personal stylist, Bloom is the next best thing.

Tell me a little about yourself and what you do!

I am a first year middle school teacher. Though I’m overwhelmed 150% of the time, I absolutely love my job! I’ve wanted to be an English teacher for as long as I can remember. It feels so great to finally live out what I love to do every single day. Outside of the classroom, I coach high school cheer and dance. Other things that I enjoy are spending time outside, practicing yoga, and reading a book with a hot cup of coffee.

What do you love about fashion?

My favorite aspect of fashion is, like many people, the ability to express myself. I believe that the way you dress says a lot about yourself, and it varies according to your mood. On the other hand, the way that you dress can influence the way that you feel and how you hold yourself. I have always believed in the “dress for success” mentality, especially during college exams! When you look your best, you feel unstoppable.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is feminine and relaxed. My fashion idol is Audrey Hepburn, though I’ll never rock the little black dress quite as well as she did. When I feel like dressing up, I love A-line skirts and dresses. When I’m looking for something more comfortable, I go for an oversized sweater and leggings. Fall fashion is by far the best.

What’s your go-to fashion piece?

Being a teacher, my go-to look is probably a casual dress with leggings layered with a sweater and possibly a scarf.

Check out Lauren’s go-to look featuring a over-sized knit poncho and statement accessories.  I decided to style my poncho with a “street style” vibe.

Are there any styles that you feel are challenging or scary?

I have a hard time pulling off anything that is too edgy. I am a girly-girl through and through, and feel intimidated by anything too tuff (shout out to Outsiders fans… I couldn’t write this whole thing without a literary reference ;).

How did you feel after being styled and photo’d in that outfit?

I was so surprised by how easy it was to wear those pants! The top that was paired with them is one of my favorites, and pulls me back in my fashion comfort zone. I felt more confident than I imagined I would. I can’t wait to put it on for a girl’s night out!

How has this experienced changed the way you view your personal style?

The shoot really encouraged me to branch out in my style. More importantly, the shoot reiterated the fact that with confidence, you can pull off any look! As my girl Audrey Hepburn once said, “happiest girls are the prettiest.” So, rock what you wear with a smile on your face and all the confidence in the world!

Lauren looks AH-MAZING in this sassy girls night out/date night outfit I styled around her pleather leggings!

Elizabeth Izzo does it again.  Lauren looks absolutely stunning and these photos truly succeed in showing off her internal beauty as well.  It was so much fun to shoot with and style Lauren.  She has always been such a large part of my support system and always keeps a smile on my face.  Thank you for putting yourself out there and showing off your amazing style.  Love you, girl!
